Is the diamond conflict free? This can be ensured by a Kimberly certificate provided with the diamond or if you buy the diamond from a conflict free country.
Is the diamond environmental friendly? Diamond producing countries have different mining methods depending on where and how they extract diamonds. The mining methods can be very destructive to the environment but can also be adapted to protect environment.
What is the social impact on the diamonds host country?
To buy diamonds socially responsible means that you ensure that the benefits you get from buying the diamond is passed down to its host country via fair wages, safe work conditions, education and other community investments.
